Two days ago Jackson Gillies graduated from high school. It was the end of a long journey that we will describe eventually in flashbacks along the way. But it's a fitting place to start because of this: For many years he pictured himself singing "My Way" at his graduation ceremony and that manifestation came true on Wednesday. It was a moving moment because he definitely did do it his way.
His way all the way from his diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes at age 3 to the arrival of Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) at age 14.
It's pretty amazing to say, but HS makes diabetes seem like a cake walk. Jackson has suffered great pain, debilitation, and misdiagnoses along the way. Now we've found a doctor who we believe really gets it and will help get Jax on the path to healing. In turn, we're hoping that this blog might help other sufferers find their way, benefiting from our missteps and successes. Welcome to Jackson's Journey!
